The reverse is equally striking, with dramatic Gothic-style lettering reading \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e“Adkins Nut Brown – For Pipe or Cigarette”\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe contrasting typography gives each side a very different character and makes this a particularly appealing piece of early tobacco advertising. Its relatively compact size also makes it much easier to display than many large enamel shop signs.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sign is double-sided, with a different advertising design to each face. Originally likely to have been fitted with a hanging flange or bracket, which is no longer present\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCondition\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn authentically aged and unrestored condition with considerable wear from its original working life. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere are areas of enamel loss, surface rust and corrosion around the edges and fixing points, together with scattered chips and losses across both faces. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere are scratches, marks and general surface wear throughout.
