An additional example of the same colourful advertising label is mounted to the inside of the lid, making the box particularly attractive when displayed open.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eInternally the box is divided into six long compartments, originally designed for organising and presenting reels of Paton’s linen thread in a haberdashery or draper’s shop.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe combination of the wooden shop fitting, original advertising and detailed depiction of the Scottish mill makes this a lovely surviving piece of textile and retail history. It would make an excellent display piece for a collection of antique haberdashery, sewing advertising or vintage shop fittings and could also be used to display a collection of cotton reels and sewing notions.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCondition\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe box is in good antique condition with plenty of character from its original working life. There are surface marks, scratches, rubbing and areas of finish loss to the wood, together with wear to the edges and corners. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBoth advertising labels remain remarkably complete and retain strong red, blue and gold colouring, although they show age-related staining, marks, rubbing, creasing and surface wear.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe internal wooden dividers remain in place.
