The word \u003cstrong\u003e“DOE”\u003c\/strong\u003e appears beneath the image, although the lower portion of the lettering has been imperfectly transferred or worn away.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eSmall pictorial mugs of this type were often given to children as presents or rewards, with the named animal scenes providing an educational element. This attractive example would make an appealing addition to a collection of early children’s pottery, animal transferware or Georgian ceramics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThe mug has a cylindrical body, moulded foot and simple loop handle. The underside is unmarked and retains an old collector’s label.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCondition\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eIn good antique condition for its age, with a short hairline crack measuring approximately \u003cstrong\u003e1.5 cm\u003c\/strong\u003e. \u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eThere is overall crazing, age-related surface wear and a number of small nibbles and glaze losses around the rim. The handle remains firmly attached. There are also minor staining, firing imperfections and some wear or incomplete printing to the word “DOE”.
