A beautifully decorative antique miniature hand-crank sewing machine, believed to be an F. W. Müller No. 12, manufactured in Germany around 1900–1910.
Made from cast iron, this substantial little machine features an elaborate pedestal base raised on four claw-style feet, with attractive moulded detailing and wonderfully preserved gold floral decoration against its black finish. The delicate gilt flowers and foliage extend across the body, supporting arms and shaped base, giving the machine a particularly ornamental appearance. It retains its large hand-operated wheel with black handle, exposed gearing, metal sewing plate, needle mechanism and upright spool holder. The sewing plate is stamped with the number 55811.
F. W. Müller was a German manufacturer known for its miniature sewing machines, producing models that were both decorative and mechanically functional. Although originally intended for children, these machines were designed to introduce their young owners to sewing.
Today, these early machines appeal to collectors of antique sewing equipment, miniature machines and traditional haberdashery.

Condition
Good antique condition with age-related wear to the black-painted finish and gilt decoration, consistent with its age and use. The gold floral detailing remains particularly attractive, with some rubbing and surface marks. The hand crank turns smoothly, operating the needle mechanism, which moves up and down as intended. The machine has not been tested with fabric and thread, so its sewing functionality cannot be guaranteed. No original box is included.
