Huntley & Palmers General Character Biscuit Tin c1913
This charming and rare Huntley & Palmers figural biscuit tin is modelled in the form of a jovial 18th-century general or military character. The body of the tin features detailed lithographed decoration with vibrant colours, including his face, hat, frock coat, and shoes. The tin opens at the top with a lift-off lid and is marked to the base with the Huntley & Palmers branding, along with Reading & London, England. Originally issued in 1913, this whimsical advertising tin would have once held biscuits and was designed to catch the eye in shop displays. A fantastic piece of British advertising history, it displays beautifully and is highly sought after by collectors.
