This charming set of three vintage butcher’s counter price signs would have once been used to label and price meat cuts on a traditional butcher’s display. The set includes signs for "Finest Lunch Tongue," "Brisket & Tongue," and "Boiled Mutton," each printed in bold black lettering on cream celluloid or early plastic panels, mounted on original steel pins. The “Lunch Tongue” sign features a rotating dial for changing the price, still functional and displaying pre-decimal pricing in shillings and pence. These tactile, evocative signs are highly collectible pieces of British food retail history and would make excellent additions to kitchen displays, vintage shop fittings, or film and TV props for period settings.

Size/Dimensions

"Finest Lunch Tongue": H: 9.5cm x L: 8.3cm (excluding spike)
"Brisket & Tongue" H: 3.1cm x L: 11.4cm (excluding spike)
"Boiled Mutton" H: 2.8cm x L: 10.5cm (excluding spike)

Condition

The signs are in good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface marks, and minor discolouration consistent with decades of use. The rotating price dial on the “Lunch Tongue” sign is intact and moves freely. There is some minor rusting on the metal pins and fixings. These pieces show honest signs of their working life but remain structurally sound and visually appealing.
