A charming vintage Boots Brilliantine Cream gift set, presented in its original colourful pictorial gift box. The set includes a glass jar of Boots Brilliantine Cream with red screw lid, plus the original cream-coloured plastic/early synthetic holder or grooming accessory with red base, both set into the original red card insert.

The Brilliantine Cream label reads “Fixes the hair and imparts gloss”, and the price appears to be marked as 6/11, placing it firmly in the pre-decimal period. The outer box has a wonderful mid-century design featuring sporting and leisure illustrations including cricket, tennis, horses, motoring and hot air balloon imagery. A great display piece for collectors of vintage Boots packaging, barber shop items, men’s grooming, mid-century toiletries, advertising, shop display or prop styling.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall, with age-related wear throughout. The outer box has rubbing, scuffs, corner wear, marks, discolouration and general storage wear. The inner card display has some wear and small tears around the cut-out sections. The Brilliantine Cream remains in the jar but has aged, dried/discoloured and is not suitable for use. The label has light rubbing and wear. The cream-coloured holder/accessory has age toning and light surface marks. Please see photographs for full condition detail.
