A lovely antique white ironstone kitchen storage jar labelled “SAGO” in bold black lettering to the front. This is the same graphic black-lettered pantry jar type as the earlier Tapioca jar, with a simple cylindrical form, banded detail to the body and a matching ceramic lid.
The jar has a nicely aged white glaze with crazing throughout and light surface wear, giving it plenty of period character. It would make a very attractive display piece for a country kitchen, pantry, dresser, shop display or antique kitchenalia collection.
There is a printed maker’s mark to the base, although it is partly worn and difficult to read clearly. A good decorative example of early 20th century pantry storage ware.
