A charming miniature 19th century Scandinavian bentwood tine box, finely hand-crafted in the traditional style. The oval body is formed from steamed and bent wood, pegged and stitched at the join, with a fitted lid and raised handle. The lid and sides are decorated with simple chip-carved motifs, typical of Norwegian and Swedish folk art.
While full-sized tine boxes were used to store foodstuffs, gifts, or household items, this smaller example was likely made as a keepsake or trinket box. Its neat proportions, patina, and decorative carving give it wonderful display appeal. A fine piece of vernacular Scandinavian craftsmanship.
