This antique Japanese wooden thread winder is hand-painted with a purple flower motif. The warm patina and worn decoration suggest long and loving use. It bears original handwritten script, possibly a maker’s mark or note. A beautiful glimpse into the global nature of needlework tools in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
