The outer wreath is handmade from folded tissue and crepe paper over a padded form, arranged in traditional mourning style with applied silk poppies. This handmade construction is typical of wartime and immediate post-war sweetheart work, created by loved ones as personal memorials. The central element is a separate padded silk pin cushion featuring hand-applied beadwork and the printed crest of The Suffolk Regiment, including crown, castle emblem, and motto Montis Insignia Calpe.
