Late Victorian White Ironstone Sago Storage Jar with Ribbon Label

A decorative late Victorian to Edwardian white ironstone kitchen storage jar labelled “SAGO” in black lettering within a ribbon/banner cartouche. This is a particularly attractive pantry jar, with a flared rim, banded body and matching ceramic lid.

The black ribbon-style graphic gives the jar a stronger and slightly earlier look than the plainer block-lettered pantry jars, making it a very appealing piece of antique kitchenalia. The white glaze has aged beautifully, with all-over crazing, light staining and surface wear, giving it plenty of period character.

This would make a lovely display piece for a country kitchen, pantry, dresser, shop display or antique kitchenalia collection. The Sago label is less commonly seen than some of the standard pantry jar names, and the decorative banner design gives this example extra charm.
