A charming vintage English ironstone advertising bowl for Sutherland’s Beef Paste, produced by Hudson & Middleton Ltd Hanley England. The bowl features transfer printed blue and red lettering around the rim reading “Pure Potted Sutherland’s Beef Paste – A Tasty Spread On Any Bread” alongside small bull head motifs.

Made in sturdy white vitrified ironstone, this would originally have been used as a counter display or advertising piece, likely within a grocer’s shop or butcher’s premises. Pieces of this type are increasingly sought after for farmhouse kitchens, country house interiors and advertising ware collections.

The underside retains the printed Hudson & Middleton Hanley England backstamp.
