A beautiful vintage Singer Featherweight 221K portable electric sewing machine, finished in the distinctive white colour, complete with its matching pale turquoise carrying case and a wonderful selection of original Singer attachments and accessories.

Manufactured in Great Britain, the machine bears serial number EV984669, which corresponds to a production allocation date of 11 June 1964.

The machine has an elegant, streamlined design with a lovely glossy finish, black Singer lettering and the distinctive red and gold Singer emblem.

Designed to be lightweight and portable, the 221K features a folding extension table, adjustable stitch length, electric motor and foot-operated speed controller.

The machine retains its Singer CAK 9-12 motor, marked Made in Great Britain, together with its electrical cable and foot pedal. It also retains its original quality-control label on the base.

First introduced in 1933, the Singer Featherweight became one of the most popular portable sewing machines of the 20th century. The later British-made 221K incorporated several design improvements while retaining the compact proportions and dependable mechanical construction for which the Featherweight became renowned.

Today, these beautifully engineered machines are collected and appreciated by sewing enthusiasts, quilters and Singer collectors worldwide.

The machine comes with its pale blue carrying case with contrasting black trim, metal catches, fitted handle and patterned fabric interior. Also included are a Singer instruction booklet, Singer attachment box containing various SIMANCO sewing attachments, four bobbins, large and small screwdrivers, a Singer sewing machine oil container with some residual oil, a needle threader and a full packet of Singer needles.

Condition

Very good vintage condition overall. The original white gloss finish retains an attractive shine, with light surface marks and some small chips to the paintwork, consistent with age and use. The Singer lettering and decorative emblem remain well preserved, and the original quality-control label is still attached to the base.

The machine has been cleaned, recalibrated and thoroughly tested, and stitches very well. It has also been electrically checked by a qualified electrician.

The accompanying carrying case shows age-related marks and wear.
