An original 1905 illustrated edition of The Cricket on the Hearth by Charles Dickens, published by J.M. Dent & Co., London, with colour illustrations by C.E. Brock. This edition is part of Dent’s beautifully produced illustrated Dickens series, prized for their decorative Edwardian bindings and artistic illustrations.
The original green cloth binding features elaborate Art Nouveau decoration incorporating cherubs, foliage, and ornamental motifs, with decorative titling to the front and spine.
This copy retains its original Edwardian bookplate for Geraldine Marston and a contemporary gift inscription dated November 4th 1905, along with an embossed Gibson & Co. bookseller’s stamp from Chester, adding appealing historical provenance.
Illustrated throughout with colour plates by C.E. Brock.

Condition
Fair antique condition. Spine detached with hinge separation. General wear, rubbing, and fraying to cloth binding. Internally complete with colour illustrations. Pages show age toning and foxing, particularly to title and preliminary pages. Structurally compromised but complete and highly decorative. No loose pages and no missing pages observed.
