A striking original First World War beaded heart pin cushion, decorated with colourful glass beads, metallic embroidery and patriotic sentiments. At the centre is a silk panel featuring the badge of the Lincolnshire Regiment, 10th Foot, with the sphinx and “Egypt” battle honour. Surrounding the emblem are vibrant beadwork sunburst motifs, while the outer panels feature printed verses including “The Lord Bless Thee” and “Think of Me”.
These sweetheart pin cushions were handmade during the First World War, often by soldiers or as gifts sent home, blending regimental pride with personal sentiment. This example retains vivid yellow, red and green silk fabrics, striking beadwork, and decorative fringe edging, all of which remain remarkably bright for its age.
This is a fine and rare example of WW1military folk art, highly sought after by collectors of militaria and antique textiles.
