An original early 20th century wooden shop counter display rack advertising Jiffy Dyes, complete with its original printed header sign. Produced for the British haberdashery and textile trade, the header reads “Jiffy Dyes – 2d – Made by William Edge & Sons Ltd, Bolton,” identifying the maker as William Edge & Sons Ltd. The rack is of solid wood construction with vertical dividers forming narrow compartments intended to hold individual boxes of dye, designed to sit on a shop counter or shelf. The header retains strong period typography and colour, with visible wear and losses that confirm this as a genuine working retail display rather than a later reproduction. A scarce survival from the British dye and sewing industry, with strong appeal for sewing rooms, interior styling, museum display or film and television prop use.
Size/Dimensions

Condition
Original antique condition. The rack shows evidence of historic woodworm activity, which has been fully treated as a precaution. Structurally sound and stable. The wood surface shows age-related wear, small knocks and patina consistent with shop use. The paper-on-board header sign displays losses, creasing, edge wear and surface cracking, all entirely in keeping with an early 20th century retail display. No modern restoration or alterations observed.
