A striking hand-carved wooden duck decoy, showing excellent age and character. This early working decoy has a beautiful worn surface with remnants of old paint and a naturally aged patina. The body is hollow with a detachable head and signs of period use including old cracks, wear, and surface marks, all of which add to its authenticity and decorative appeal.
Duck decoys like this were originally used by hunters in the late 19th to early 20th century to attract wildfowl. Today, they are highly collectible pieces of folk art, perfect for rustic interiors, collectors of sporting antiques, or display in country-style homes.
