A bold vintage enamel advertising sign for Spratt’s Meat-Fibrine Dog Foods, produced by Wood & Penfold Ltd, London. With its striking colour scheme of cobalt blue and bright yellow, this sign would have originally hung outside a shop or feed store, promoting one of the best-known names in British pet food.

Spratt’s was the world’s first commercial pet food manufacturer, established in the 19th century and a household name through the first half of the 20th century. Enamel signs like this were key advertising tools and are now sought-after by collectors of enamel signage and vintage advertising. This is the smaller, harder-to-find size, which makes it especially appealing to collectors and decorators alike. Rectangular in shape with strong typography and high visual impact, it displays beautifully despite its age.

Condition

The sign shows age-related wear including surface marks, chips to the enamel, and rusting at the edges and reverse, but it retains a glossy finish and vibrant colour, making it a fine decorative piece with excellent presence for its size. Reverse heavily rusted but structurally sound. Retains excellent colour and gloss.
