Antique Victorian Walnut Shell Pincushion with Blue Velvet
A charming antique pincushion made from two natural walnut shell halves enclosing a deep blue velvet cushion.
The walnut shell has been carefully split and fitted around the padded centre, creating a compact and tactile sewing accessory with a wonderfully rustic handmade appearance. Several old pins remain in the cushion.
Walnut shell pincushions were popular homemade sewing accessories during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, making use of natural materials to create practical and decorative objects for the sewing basket.
A lovely little survivor with plenty of age and character.
