Antique Wooden Cow Butter Stamp / Treen Dairy Mould
A charming small antique wooden butter stamp, carved with a cow design to the circular face. The design shows a cow standing among simple foliage, with a carved border around the edge.
The stamp has a turned wooden handle and a lovely aged patina from use. It would originally have been used to press a decorative design into butter, but today makes a wonderful piece of country kitchenalia, dairy-related treen or folk art display.
The cow motif gives this piece particularly strong dairy and farmhouse appeal, making it a lovely addition to a dresser, pantry display, treen collection or rustic kitchen interior.
Size/Dimensions
H: 6.5 cm x D: 4 cm
Condition
Good antique used condition with age-related wear, darkening, surface marks and signs of use throughout. The carved cow design remains clear and very decorative. There is a fine split/crack just visible across the carved face and a small old hole to the centre, along with general knocks and wear to the edges and handle, as shown. Displays very well.
Era
Late 19th to early 20th century, likely c.1880–1920.
