WWI Sweetheart Pin Cushion Beaded Star Faith Hope Charity Ribbons
A highly decorative and visually striking World War I sweetheart pin cushion in an unusual star form, richly embellished with beadwork, ribbon and symbolic embroidery.
The centre panel features a finely embroidered design of an open book titled “Holy Bible” with the virtues “Faith, Hope & Charity” and anchor motif, framed by metallic studs. Surrounding this are radiating segments in soft peach tones, densely decorated with glass beads in green, pink and clear hues.
Two printed silk panels read “Forget Me Not”, reinforcing the sentimental and commemorative nature typical of wartime sweetheart pieces. The inclusion of colourful ribbon elements, likely representing service or regimental colours, adds further historic and collector interest.
The base fabric appears to be a plush or mohair-type textile, edged with decorative trim and retaining its original backing. A particularly vibrant and tactile example, combining textile art, symbolism and military-era sentiment.
