A beautifully crafted early to mid-20th-century wicker sewing basket, dating from around the 1930s to 1950s, featuring a richly textured hand-woven exterior and a luxurious padded satin interior.
The basket is in a classic cottage style typical of pre-war and mid-century British wickerwork. The lid opens to reveal a sumptuous deep purple satin lining, complete with button-tufted padding and a central strap. The interior base and sides are gathered in matching satin, giving the basket an elegant boudoir feel.

Condition
The basket is in very good vintage condition for its age. The woven exterior is sound with light wear and some mellowing of the natural fibres expected from early to mid-century wicker. The satin interior remains vibrant, with minor age-related marks and tiny pulls visible on close inspection. The clasp shows patina consistent with age and closes securely. Overall, it presents beautifully and retains its period character.
