WW1 Royal Welsh Fusiliers Sweetheart Pin Cushion – Beaded Heart Patriotic Textile

A beautiful and genuine WW1 sweetheart pincushion made for the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Crafted in a stuffed heart shape, it is richly decorated with glass beads, sequins, metallic thread and printed silk panels. These sentimental cushions were traditionally made by—or for—soldiers during the First World War and sent home as tokens of affection and remembrance.

The front is made from teal and cream silky fabrics, each section outlined with tiny glass beads in green, pink, white and blue. Metallic-thread sunburst motifs radiate from deep blue glass centres, giving the surface a distinctive, hand-worked texture. At the centre is a printed silk panel with the gilt Royal Welsh Fusiliers badge. To one side sits a “Think of Me” verse panel and to the other a printed allied flags motif. The edge is finished in its original soft looped fringe. The back is plain cream fabric.

A striking and well-preserved example of a genuine WW1 sweetheart item, ideal for collectors of militaria, trench art-style textiles, regimental souvenirs or antique sewing pieces.
