A large, hand-hammered copper tray with a gently scalloped outline, dating to the Arts & Crafts period of the early 20th century. Measuring 55 cm in length, this is a statement piece with real visual weight and presence.
The surface is densely planished, creating a rich, light-catching texture, and is framed by a raised undulating rim. A stamped maker’s mark to the side is consistent with work attributed to Townsend & Co, Birmingham, a respected Arts & Crafts metalwork firm. The overall form, hammering and finish align closely with documented examples from the Birmingham school.
Well suited to use as a sideboard tray, table centrepiece or for interior styling, this is a strong, decorative piece that works equally well in traditional or contemporary settings.
