Antique Harrods Wooden Cotton & Silk Thread Reels Set of Four

A scarce set of four early Harrods wooden thread reels, each retaining its original Harrods-labelled ends and thread.

The group comprises two Harrods Mercerised Machine Twist cotton reels and two Harrods Pure Machine Silk reels, including examples carrying the Harrods Brompton Road S.W. and Harrods Ltd London S.W.1 addresses. The wooden spools, original paper end labels, early department store branding, and wording such as “Pure Machine Silk” and “Mercerised Machine Twist” all support an early 20th-century date, circa 1900–1930.

Harrods-branded sewing reels are far less commonly found than standard manufacturer reels and make an appealing addition to collections of antique haberdashery, department store memorabilia, sewing antiques and period shop displays.
