A fine example of an antique herb chopper with forged iron blade and sturdy wooden handle. These compact kitchen tools were widely used in the 19th and early 20th centuries for chopping herbs, onions, and vegetables with a rocking or pressing motion. This example features a wide forged iron blade with attractive age patina and wear from long use. The wooden handle is securely fixed with rivets, showing smooth wear from decades of use.
Rustic, tactile, and full of character, this piece of antique kitchenalia is ideal for display in a farmhouse kitchen, a collector’s wall, or as a prop for period settings.
