A rare and charming antique Huntley & Palmers advertising tin, cleverly designed in the shape of a bell. Produced in the early 20th century, this novelty container once held biscuits from the renowned Reading & London manufacturer.
The tin features embossed floral decoration, scrolling details, and the words “When Ye Doe Ringe I Sweetly Sing” around the upper rim, echoing the inscription of real church bells. It would originally have been decorated with a painted and gilt finish to imitate a real bell, though today it shows a plain, timeworn metal surface with rich aged patina. The hinged lid lifts neatly to reveal the interior, with the base clearly marked Huntley & Palmers, Reading & London, England, Biscuits.
With its distinctive bell form and evocative surface, this tin is both collectible and highly decorative. Ideal for display in a vintage kitchen, advertising collection, or as a unique prop.
