A lovely antique bread knife with a carved treen wooden handle and steel blade.

The handle has attractive hand-carved leaf and berry-style decoration, with a warm aged patina and shaped pointed end. The steel blade has a broad rounded bread knife form and is marked with VR around a crown, although the remaining maker’s mark is worn and difficult to read.

A good decorative piece of antique country kitchenalia, ideal for a farmhouse kitchen, dresser display, pantry collection or treen collector.

Condition

Good antique condition with age-related wear throughout. The carved wooden handle has surface marks, patina and wear from use. The steel blade has darkening, pitting, tarnish and age-related surface wear, as shown. The maker’s mark is partly worn and not fully legible.
