Antique 19th Century Grödnertal Style Wooden Peg Doll – 17.5cm

A charming old wooden peg doll with a beautifully simple hand-painted face and a wonderfully romantic, timeworn white lace dress.

Standing 17.5 cm tall, she has a rounded wooden head with painted black hair, delicately drawn eyebrows and eyes, rosy cheeks and a tiny red mouth. Her traditional wooden body has straight, slender arms and legs, with simple painted white details to the hands and lower legs.

She wears a beautifully timeworn white dress, which we have added using old fabrics and lace. The softly gathered layers, delicate lace trimmings and ribbon at the waist complement her traditional wooden construction and give her a wonderfully nostalgic appearance.

The doll's simple construction and painted features are reminiscent of traditional Grödnertal wooden peg dolls, although her precise age and origin have not been established.

A wonderfully characterful little doll, with plenty of age and charm, perfect for a collection of antique dolls, early wooden toys or decorative curiosities.
