A wonderful collection of 12 vintage glass Christmas baubles, each featuring an intricately moulded concave reflector.

Dating from around the mid-20th century, the baubles have been individually decorated in a joyful mixture of red, blue, silver, gold, pink, green and orange. Their varied reflector designs include flowers, stars, radiating petals and colourful geometric patterns.

Several have additional hand-painted details, while some are finished with textured white frosting. The deep concave centres were designed to catch and reflect Christmas-tree lights, producing a particularly magical effect when illuminated.

The collection includes a pleasing variety of round and slightly elongated shapes. All 12 retain their metal caps and hanging loops and are presented in a vintage divided card box with tissue paper.

A striking collection for a traditional Christmas tree and an increasingly difficult type of vintage decoration to find as a larger group.

Condition

The baubles are in good vintage condition overall, with the expected age-related fading, rubbing, spotting, tarnishing and areas of wear to the painted decoration and internal silvering.

Eleven baubles are free from chips. One silver bauble with a blue-edged reflector has a chip or hole at the neck beneath its metal cap. This has been photographed closely and the cap remains in place.

All 12 metal caps are present and display age-related tarnishing and wear. The divided card box is worn and marked from storage, with some distortion and wear to the internal dividers.
