Vintage ANDREX Toilet Tissue Roll in Original Paper Wrapper British Made

A scarce surviving roll of ANDREX toilet tissue in its original printed paper wrapper, produced by St Andrew Mills Ltd., London. The wrapper features classic early Andrex branding with the statement “Especially suitable for children and for those with a delicate skin,” along with decorative star motifs and the maker’s mark.

This early example is noticeably smaller than a modern toilet roll. Early toilet tissue rolls contained far fewer sheets and were wound on smaller cores, as domestic toilet paper use was still developing during the early–mid 20th century. Manufacturers produced more compact rolls which were designed to fit the smaller wall holders commonly installed in British bathrooms of the period.

The wrapper has aged to a warm yellow tone with creasing and wear typical of mid-century paper goods, but remains intact and clearly printed. Items like this were designed to be used and discarded, making surviving examples increasingly difficult to find.

An evocative piece of everyday British advertising history, ideal for collectors of vintage packaging, bathroom or household advertising, shop display, film and TV props, or social history collections. It displays particularly well alongside other vintage household goods or chemist shop items.
