Vintage Dog in Basket Tape Measure & Pincushion, Boxed, Working 36”

Delightful novelty sewing accessory in the form of a small dog nestled in a wicker-style basket, incorporating a fully working retractable tape measure and a fabric pincushion. The tape measure extends smoothly to a full 36 inches and retracts well. The dog is finished with soft fur, glass eyes and painted details, seated alongside a red pincushion within a pink woven basket.

The underside of the cushion is stamped “FOREIGN”, a designation used on imported goods sold in the United Kingdom from the early 20th century onwards. Novelty figural tape measures of this type were commonly manufactured in Germany or elsewhere in Europe and retailed through British haberdashers and department stores. The pincushion appears unused, with no obvious pin marks.
