A vintage carded set of six unused sewing cards produced by J & L Randall Ltd and made in England. The set is presented on its original display card and comprises six different animal designs: seal, tortoise, lamb, kitty, cockerel and elephant. Each card is pre-punched for stitching and was intended as a simple educational sewing activity for children.
All cards in the set remain unused. Five of the six designs retain bright red printed outlines, while the seal card, positioned on the top of the pack, shows lighter printing consistent with exposure while carded. The graphics remain clear and well defined across the set, making this an appealing and increasingly hard-to-find survival.
Sewing cards of this type were popular in the mid-20th century as affordable, practical craft items designed to teach basic sewing skills and hand–eye coordination. Complete, unused carded sets with multiple animal designs are now sought after by collectors of vintage sewing ephemera, children’s educational material and British graphic design.
